We have a stray cat that showed up at our house that we can't care for and they won't pick up, they want me to catch and then drive 30 minutes to them to drop it off at the shelter (basically they want me to do their job). What are our tax dollars paying for if "animal control" won't see about nuisance animals???

Unfriendly front desk women. I came in and wasn't greeted. I told her I had the kitten for them to take.(that I found outside all alone) she gave me papers to fill out as the cat is crawling on me. So I asked what I was to do with him/her? She came around and took the kitten as if she didn't even want to touch it. They acted like I just abandoned him. I was actually a little concerned to leave it there afterwards. But if the two men that was in the yard, with the animals take care of him, he/she should be good. Nice, polite, hard working gentlemen. Would love to see pics of the kitten on their website in the near future. Just keep in mind, everyone has bad days and goes through things, but you will not get far in life with an attitude. Politness and southern hospitality brightens other's day. God bless

I can never thank this place enough for saving the life of a dog who eventually became my best friend. In 2010, they had an enormous, somewhat senior, and previously injured dog who was scheduled to be put down because he had been unclaimed for so long..But the wonderful person who worked there thought he was such a nice dog that he must be special, looked up what he was, and found the breed rescue organization, who drove more than five hours to come save him. After considerable medical attention, this gentle giant was matched with me -- and my life, and his, were transformed forever. This very special dog, who had been through a lot before I got him and was skin-and-bones thin, recovered fully and lived to an advanced old age in a home full of love and happiness that he made possible. That's him in my profile picture, running for the sheer joy of it on a beach in Wisconsin at sunrise, the energy of life extending with each stride. Thank you, St. Landry Parish Animal Control, for rescuing this amazing dog and making our lives so very much better.
