Sorry long post but worth reading. Not a good experience. I fill out an application and on that application was asked if interested in a specific animal. I put the animals name down on the application and then waited for notice if I was approved to adopt an animal. Almost 2 days pass and i get a call about one of the questions, person said okay they pass the answer along then hung up. Another day passes so I email this place and was told they thought that I was told I was approved, this was late yesterday afternoon so I told them we would be there today to look at the dog. They said okay. So we drive 2.5 hours to the place to be told the dog was being adopted but they have many more animals??? Then they tell Chairdie they don't hold animals...... Then why ask if I was interested in a specific animal and not tell me between the phone calls and emails that they don't hold animals? So we drove all the way there so we looked at the other dogs and found one that we were interested in. So we meet the dog, no interest in us at all, was very nervous. So we asked if she could meet our boy Zeus? They said absolutely. We go outside so they can meet. Well our 7 month old puppy was very excited, for one 2.5 plus hours in the car and being around another animal which was 1.5 yrs old. So the female was very shy and nervous with Zeus energy so the young lady stares that she think it would be a good fit, and I guess this is the 2nd time this young dog has been returned to no fault of her own. So yup not good.
I just adopted my new pet, her name is Maggie however I'm not very fond of that name so the wife and I will discover her name in the next few days. Such a special day for her and for our home.
The staff were not very helpful or friendly and it's easier to adopt a child than it is an animal from them.. As an animal lover, I was treated bad because I had taken in strays to them & now I can't get an animal.. I had an Emotional Support K9 for 11yrs and she passed away from pancreatitis 2 yrs ago..😢 I'm just now looking for another K9.. I have excellent references and my Martini was my baby not just a dog.. I'm not at all impressed by the shelter or the people that work there.. I would have given snickerdoodle a forever loving home.. I pray she actually goes to a loving home.. Look for animals on FB because they always have cats & dogs that need rescued and need a loving ❤ forever home... Macon County Animal Control and Care Center is a joke.. I will find an amazing fur baby again but never from this place.. They also like to get your hopes up only to have them break your heart..
